Particle board production plants
The “green” material is first selected and separated from foreign bodies, and then it is ground and reduced to "chips" of appropriate size, which are dried by means of a rotating drum.
The material is brought into the drum by a stream of hot air, which transfers heat mainly by convection. At the drum outlet an accurately dimensioned settling chamber allows the separation of the “coarse” fraction of the dried material. The “fine” dried material on the other hand is conveyed to and separated by a battery of new-concept LPD cyclones. The material is then mixed with glue and sent to the forming machines which create the "mattress" of the panel, which will be later hot pressed and then finished by edge trimmers, sanders and cutters.
Such particle board is characterized by a multi-layer structure or, rather, by the so-called "continuous variable grain size” (finer chips are placed on the outer panel sides, while bigger chips on the inner side).
The most significant advantages of Instalmec dryers (COT/V and COM/V type) are:
• Excellent performance and resistance to wear, even in case of use of recy wood; • Pre-integrated dryer (either Omega or Gravimetric Separator); • Automatic extraction system of ashes; • Fan installed after the cyclones

MDF production plants
Wood fiber is first produced by a defibrizer, then it is dried by a hot air stream which conveys it to the following stage. It is glued, and then enters the system dedicated to the production of the "mattress"; such “mattress” will go through a press which will bring it to the required thickness.
The types of panel which can be produced are the following:
• MDF: density from 450 to 850 kg/m3, • HDF: density from 700 to 900 kg/m3, • THDF: density up to 1050 kg/m3.
Wood fiber Panels have better mechanical properties than the particle board ones.
The most significant advantages of Instalmec dryers (MEF type) are:
• Simple and reliable management; • Low maintenance and easy cleaning; • Possibility of customizing the plant layout to match the different customer requirements.

OSB production plants
The "green" material in form of logs is selected so as to eliminate any log having inappropriate size or shape. Suitable logs are reduced to leaves (strand). By means of mechanical conveying systems that preserve the integrity of the strands the material is injected into a rotating drum.
As for the particle board material, here too the heat is transferred to the material mainly by convection.
The dried material is collected at the drum outlet and below the cyclones and sent to the gluing system. Next step is the formation of the mattress which takes place thanks to mechanical and fluid dynamic systems, which allow achieving the desired strands orientation in the various levels of the sections of the panel.
As in the above mentioned plants, at the end of the cycle the panel is reduced to the required dimension and its surface is sanded.
The most significant advantages of Instalmec dryers (OEM/V type) are:
• High yield and extremely low impact between mechanical components and strand; • State of the art construction; • Robust construction of the components.
